Abstract
Summary You simply cannot go to Glasgow in Scotland and be a shrinking violet. Or at least this is what we were told when we attended the European Sleep Research Society (ESRS) Congress in Glasgow in 2008. This report aims to illustrate how collaboration and communication between specialists can help to facilitate breakthroughs in clinical practice. We leave it up to the reader to decide whether those who attended also made breakthroughs in learning local customs.
