The reasons for this close linkage relate to the high prevalence of OSA, which is now estimated to affect close to one billion people worldwide [1], and the recognition that the clinical evaluation of patients suspected of OSA requires overnight monitoring, which has traditionally involved the resources of a sleep laboratory [2].
